How to Find a Good Bike for Beginners

These days I meet more and more people like me -- folks who basically quit riding bicycles the moment they got their driver's license, but who would now like to start riding a bike again. For folks who haven't been on a bike in years, there can be a lot of confusion in trying to find the best beginner bike to get started riding again. There are many bikes to choose from, and pricing runs from "bargain basement" to "the sky's the limit".
